Its Time for DS Najib To Look For A New Ketua Pemuda UMNO

Its no secret that Khairy Jamaluddin, the present Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, was not there at Padang Merbok…to share the fury and anger of over 200,000 Malays…over the Bersih4.0 rally two weeks earlier. Many were askng the same question as me….where was Ketua Pemuda UMNO….when even Ketua Pemuda PAS, Nik Abduh, was reported to be there among the massive crowd of Malays.

Its difficult to believe if there were certain ‘tactical reasons’ for Khairy not to be there. After all, Khairy used to lead a smaller RED SHIRT rally(of 2,000 Pemuda members} along Jalan Bukit Bintang on the same day as Bersih3.0 gathering in 2013, which was attended by about 30,000 participants. Then, Khairy’s command of grassroot support among Pemuda was intensely questioned… Ketua Pemuda UMNO of Malaysia managed to mobilise only 2,000 members…to show off ‘strength’ against the Bersih3.0 gathering?

Khairy’s tenure as Ketua Pemuda will expire quite soon. By his own testimony, this would be his last term.

Although Ketua Pemuda is elected by the Pemuda delegates from the Pemuda branches of UMNO, it would be good for DS Najib to start identifying suitable candidates to take over from Khairy when his present term expires. The coming Ketua Pemuda should me somebody who could mobilise HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND OF MALAYS onto the street of Kuala Lumpur….should such need arise.

Future Ketua Pemuda should also be staunchly loyal to the party president….like a few upcoming breed of new leaders of UMNO, including  Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, the Minister of Housing and Local Government.
