Who Are Pendatang?

October 21, 2017

Malaysia is part of the Malay Archipelago or ‘Kepulauan Melayu’.

Since times immorable, and before historians wrote history of the region, Malay Archipelago saw the sprutting of hundreds of Malay chieftens and kingdoms, which gave allegience to the most powerful Malay kingdom among them during different era, including Langkasuka, Sri Vijaya and Malacca.

Despite being subjects of different kingdoms, they are all regarded as part and parcel of Malay race, sharing the same language, culture and religion.

European colonisations brought about the establishment of independent nations within the Malay Archipelago, including Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, which later became Malaysia. Those among the Malay diaspora or ‘Rumpun Melayu’, became automatic citizen of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, regardless of their ancestory from Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Celebes, Mindanao or southern Thailand or other lands of the Malays.

Only those who reached our shores from outside the Malay Archipelago were regarded as foreigners or PENDATANG.

However, milions of PENDATANG were granted full citizenship of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu in mid 1950s…with certain ‘Citizenship Agreement’ terms better known as ‘Social Contract’. Since then, those who were granted citizenship…and their descendents are no longer PENDATANG.

ROS Should Monitor DAP CEC Re-election

October 20, 2017

I find it baffling that our ROS is allowing an American-based audit firm to ‘audit’ the coming DAP CEC RE-ELECTION.

Is ROC running away from its responsibility to make sure that there is no repeat manipulations by DAP top leaders in their party election.

Will an audit firm from USA understand such manipulations…esp when they are appointed by DAP top leaders to ‘verify’ the proceedings and results of CEC elections.

ROC should know how to think outside the box. Its surely within their power to send their representatives to monitor the proceedings, including the counting of ballet papers…in the same manner our Election Commission monitors our General Elections.

Appointing an audit firm, whether foreign or local will not guarantee fair election in DAP. ROC has the power and personnels to restore confidence among DAP members.
