PAS Was Formed To Support Datuk Onn Jaafar

September 1, 2012

While the ‘spirit of Merdeka’ is still lingering around, it would be good for the younger generation to be exposed to a small piece of history, about the history of the formation of Parti Islam Se-Malaya(Se-Malaya literally means Satu Malaya, or ‘for the whole of Malaya).

Not many, even among PAS hardcore supporters and leaders, are  aware that PAS was indirectly formed by UMNO. All because successive PAS leaders would not want their members to feel obliged to pay back anything to UMNO, and on top of that, they would not want their members to have any fraternity feelings towards UMNO.

Most Malaysians are aware that United Malays National Organisation(UMNO) was formed in 1946, with Datuk Onn Jaafar(the grandfather of DS Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, our present Menteri Dalam Negeri) as its first President. UMNO was set up to provide political vehicle to unite the Malays in their bitter opposition to the imposition of MALAYAN UNION government by the British after the Japanese surrender in 1945. The opposition by the united Malays forced the British to rescind the Malayan Union, and replaced by the PERSEKUTUAN TANAH MELAYU in 1948. In the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu agreement brokered by the British, UMNO and Raja-Raja Melayu, Persekutuan Tanah Melayu was established as a TRANSITION GOVERMENT, to prepare the Federation for full independence.

As part of his efforts to mobilise the support of the whole Malayan population on the road for full independence, Datuk Onn Jaafar decided to create a platform within UMNO, to accomodate Islamic religious scholars, more popularly known as ‘ustaz’, to join the bandwagon of UMNO. An UMNO  religious sub-committee was set up in 1950 for the purpose and was called PERSATUAN ISLAM SE-MALAYSIA, in short PAS. The religious sub-committee was headed by an Islamic scholar who was very close to Datuk Onn Jaafar, Hj Mohd. Fuad.

A year later, Datuk Onn Jaafar was persuaded by the British officials to consider opening up UMNO membership to the non-Malays. At that point in time, the non-Malays who were citizens of the country was less than 10% of the whole population, and they were mainly those who became British subjects in the straits settlements of Malacca and Penang, and were considered as ‘automatic’ citizens of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. To the British, and possibly Datuk Onn Jaafar too, even if they were allowed to be members of UMNO, their small number would not affect the leadership of the Malays in UMNO. However, the fact was, by that time, the total number of Chinese and Indian IMMIGRANT WORKERS had already overwhelmed the number of local Malays.

Datuk Onn’s idea of opening up the membership of UMNO to non-Malays was met with OVERWHELMING OPPOSITION by the rank-and-file of UMNO, the same people who had been cherishing his leadership, both in uniting the Malays and in confronting/negotiating with the British. Being a gentleman as he had always been, Datuk Onn decided not to re-contest for the Presidency of UMNO when his tenure expired in 1951, instead declared his intention to set up a new multi-racial party, the Independence Malaya Party(IMP).

After Datuk Onn Jaafar officially launched the new  IMP, Hj Mohd Fuad, out of his support for Datuk Onn Jaafar, decided to pull out the UMNO religious sub-committee under his wing, and set up a new party called Parti Islam se-Malaya(PAS), and declared it to be ‘friendly’ to Datuk Onn’s newly formed IMP. That’s how PAS was formed….to support Datuk Onn Jaafar.

Storm in the Cup Over ‘1Melayu, 1Bumi’

April 28, 2011

Unlike in the USA where they have to endure TYPHOONS and HURRICANES, in Malaysia, at worst, we have to only try to stay calm when ‘Storm in the cup’ SHAKES THE NATION.

Our country has been so PEACEFUL for over 50 years since our independence, that even a ‘storm in the cup’ may SHAKE THE NATION. The latest FUROR was the proposal by an editor of the UMNO-linked Utusan Malaysia advocating ‘1Melayu, 1Bumi’ movement in the aftermath of the almost clean sweep by the Chinese-based of Chinese-majority urban seats in the recent Sarawak state election.

The initial sign of storm came when the Chinese-based senior partner in the ruling BN, MCA, called for the BOYCOTT of Utusan Malaysia. In retaliation, several Malay NGOs staged demonstrations in front of both MCA and DAP KL offices, to protest against their PROVOCATIVE GESTURES against the Utusan Malaysia, long seen as the VOICE OF THE MALAYS.

Putting RACIAL PREJUDICES aside, one wonders what’s really so wrong with the advocation of ‘1Melayu, 1Bumiputra’ movement should it be taken up at all. Afterall, ‘1Melayu’ only means ‘UNITED MALAYS’, while ‘1Bumi’ simply means ‘UNITED BUMIPUTRAS’. On the same token, ‘1Malaysia’ advocated by the Malaysian PM Najib means ‘UNITED MALAYSIA’.

Infact, in 1946, when the Malays decided to be UNITED to face up to the MALAYAN UNION, which the Chinese-based DAP has re-phrased it as MALAYSIAN MALAYSIA, they formed a party called UNITED MALAYS NATIONAL ORGANISATION(UMNO). UNITED MALAYS, in Najib’s era, is what ‘1Melayu’ is all about. Infact the Alliance Party was the getting together of UNITED MALAYS(UMNO)), UNITED CHINESE(MCA) and UNITED INDIANS(MIC). And with 13 other parties coming in, it has become the BN, the UNITED MALAYSIA ‘1Malaysia’ party.

That being the case, why are the Chinese-based parties including MCA and DAP so sensitive about the advocation of ‘1Malays, 1Bumi’ movement? Is it wrong for the Malays to be UNITED under ‘1Melayu’, and the Bumis to be UNITED under ‘1Bumi’? Afterall, our country’s has shown BEYOND DOUBT, that, the UNITY OF MALAYS, in Najib’s era called ‘1Melayu’ has contributed a great deal to the PEACE, STABILITY and PROSPERITY of the country.

So, what’s wrong with ‘1Melayu, 1Bumi’….as long as all the races are united again under 1Malaysia, or MALAYSIA UNITED. And, please….no more ‘storm in the cup’.

Will Sarawak Chinese Dance To RACIAL MUSIC of DAP?

April 15, 2011

Sarawak has been the ‘CENTRE’ of Malaysia, ever since its State Assembly was dissolved a few weeks ago, to make way for the 10th Sarawak State Election, which will take place tomorrow.

Sarawak is not only the largest state in Malaysia, but its also one of the MOST COLOURFUL states with over 40 ethnic groupings, the bigger ones being the Iban(30%), Melayu/Melanau(27%), Chinese(26%).

Apart from the Chinese, all other ethnic groupings are INDIGENOUS, or BUMIPUTRA of Sarawak. Meaning, the BUMIPUTRAS make up 74% of the population, and voters in Sarawak.

Like any other parts of Malaysia, the Chinese are the WEALTHIEST GROUPING in Sarawak, dominating trades, businesses  and commerce, including the lucrative TIMBER CONCESSIONS and EXPORTS business. The political stability of Sarawak has allowed the state to develop and prosper, and the Chinese has been the BIGGEST BENEFICIARIES of the stability and prosperity.

However, the BUMIPUTRAS including the Ibans, Malays, Melanaus, Bedayuhs and others, are catching up very fast, thanks to the AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS like the DEB, which have allowed them to compete with the Chinese on a more levelled play-ground. Without the AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS policies like the DEB, the INDIGENOUS ethnic groupings would have been overwhelmed by the Chinese, who have been more advanced and sophisticated in trades and businesses….they would have fared worse than the INDIGENOUS GROUPINGS in Kalimantan, Indonesia. In Indonesia, the 5% Chinese population is controlling over 90% of the country’s economy, forcing MILLIONS of their INDIGENOUS population, male and female,  to ‘cari makan’ in other countries including Malaysia.

The past one week witnessed how agressive DAP is in trying to win over the support of the Chinese in Chinese-majority urban constituencies. DAP’s ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ seek to abolish any race-related policies like the DEB, and seek to provide ‘equal opportunity’ for all.

The BIG QUESTION  is,  will ‘equal opportunity’ ensure  FAIR DISTRIBUTION of wealth accross the multi-ethnic population. How to ensure that the MORE ADVANCED Chinese in the field of trades and business will not dominate and overwhelm the others, like in the game of MONOPOLY, where the RICH WILL GET RICHER and the POOR GETS POORER.

Majority of Chinese voters may be driven to dance to DAP’s musics. Why not we follow the path of ‘equal opportunity’  in all aspects of life, when the Chinese will surely dominate and overwhelm the others? Why should we care about the Malays, the Melanaus, the Ibans, the Bedayuhs, and others? Why not we compete on the basis of MERITOCRACY…where the best will win…and the winners will take all!!!

This is the question the Chinese voters will have to answer by tomorrow…to dance to the RACIAL MUSICS of DAP and surge forward infront of all others in grabbing the country’s wealth, all for themselves…or to look right and left, and share the country’s cakes with the others, especially the smaller  and helpless INDIGENOUS groupings and tribes.

Until today, all the INDIGENOUS GROUPINGS are only shielded and protected, by the benovalent AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS policies of the BN Government…..against the TYRANNY OF GREEDINESS.

Will the Sarawak Chinese BREAKAWAY and SURGE AWAY from the remaining 74% of the population, in their quest for wealth and prosperity..all  for themselves??

Transformation of Sabah and Sarawak Within Malaysia

February 21, 2011

Of late, many blogs, including MT People’s Portal, were filled with articles, mostly trying to portray that Sabah and Sarawak were unfairly treated by the Government of Malaysia. To prove their points, they portrayed that both Sabah and Sarawak are lagging behind the other West Malaysia states, the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, in term of overall development.

Not many realize that, at the time of formation of Malaysia in 1963, Persekutuan Tanah Melayu were a fast developing country, being the largest exporters of TIN and RUBBER in the world. While, Sabah and Sarawak were then STRETCHES OF DENSE EQUITORIAL RAIN FORESTS, punctuated by pockets of human settlements, by the various INDIGENOUS ETHNICS GROUPINGS, apart from pockets of IMMIGRANT CHINESE enclaves.

Accross the South China Sea, Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, in English Malaya, had been over 5 years INDEPENDENT of the British rule. After 5 years, the British found out how capable UMNO Malay leaders were in administering the multi-racial Malaya, especially in maintaining PEACE and HARMONY among all the rakyat. The UMNO-dominated three-party coalition of UMNO, MCA and MIC were the stabilising factor, to ensure that the rakyat were focussed on developing the country, rather than fighting one another, as happened in many African newly independent countries.

Unlike Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, there was NO SINGLE ETHNIC GROUPING strong enough to be EFFECTIVE RULERS of both Sabah and Sarawak, should the British decide to grant independence to them. The various INDIGENOUS ETHNIC GROUPINGS were then too adverse and diverse, to set up a Government, to take over from the British. In many ways, Sabah and Sarawak were LIABILITIES, rather than ASSETS, to the British. But, to let go Sabah and Sarawak on their own would be like leaving an infant in the RAIN FOREST JUNGLE.

Down on the southern tip of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, Singapore was then still ill-prepared to be an independent city-state. They did not have their own army or police. The communists were then very strong, and there was a real possibility that the communist would take over Singapore. The British was anti-communist, and would not let Singapore be victims of communist take-over.

To solve both problems in one shot, the British decided to INJECT Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore, into Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, and make them independent as part of a new political entity called MALAYSIA. Malaysia was officially formed on 16th September 1963, consisting of 11 states of former Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, and 3 new states, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. However, due to PAP’s Singapore INSISTENCE on the concept of ‘Malaysian Malaysia’, Malaysia decided to EXPEL Singapore from the Federation of 14 states in 1965.

Since the independence of Sabah and Sarawak in 1963 as part of Malaysia, both states were transformed from VAST TROPICAL RAIN FORESTS to what they are today. The various INDIGENOUS ETHNIC GROUPINGS were then exposed to educations, good medical services, and all other Government services.

In a way, it was the ESTABLISHMENT based in Persekutuan Tanah Melayu which has UNITED the various ETHNIC GROUPINGS in Sabah and Sarawak. Without the role of ESTABLISHMENT in Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, there would be NO SINGLE ETHNIC GROUPING strong enough to form an effentive Governments to unite the states.

The people of Sabah and Sarawak should NEVER FORGET the role of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu in bringing them up from INFANTS to ADULTHOOD. When you become ADULTS, please do not forget your parents who had brought you up.

I can not blame certain ETHNIC GROUP who like to send their elderly parents to OLD FOLKS HOMES. They are simply UNGRATEFUL to their parents…

REAL CULPRITS In Creating Racial Tension

February 19, 2011

My latest article before this was entitled ‘Highly-Racially-Charged 2010’, after which I have not written much in this blog, but was compelled to gauge the outside world by debating in other blogs, mainly the pro-opposition blogs.

Today, when I descended into one of my favourite ‘playgrounds’, the MT People’s Portal, I came accross many CUT&PASTE post, some even by writers from outside Malaysia, who subscribe to the perception that the present UMNO/BN Government is the party playing the RACIAL CARD for its survival.

Having read all the INTERNATIONAL RUBBISH being served there, I have a few brief comments to make:

1. Malays will never encroach into the Chinese’s RIGHTS to run businesses, to run banks, to become millionaires and even billionaires. And Malays would not mind the Chinese playing SECOND FIDDLE(in film industry, they call it supporting actors) to Malays in politics. However, Malays will never accept the Chinese trying to ‘divide and rule’ the Malays, in order to be KING-MAKER’ like what DAP is trying to do.

2. Its a FALLACY that the 153-related policies only benefited certain ‘Malay elites’ close to UMNO. Those policies have benefitted the Malays ACCROSS THE BOARD. Access to tertiary education has allowed MOST Malay families to have at least one or two of their siblings graduating from IPTAs and secured good jobs. Who benefited? Their families in the kampungs benefitted. Its a NATURAL TENDENCY that successful Malay-owned companies would employ Malay managers, technocrats, accountants and floor workers. That’s how WEALTH is distributed down.

 3. RACIAL TENSIONS are quite new phenomenon in Malaysia. For over 50 years, Malaysians were living by and large, in PEACE and HARMONY. The present ATMOSPHERE OF RACIAL TENSION only started in the run-up to 2008 GE. Many still do not realize that it was THE OPPOSITION who started playing the RACE CARDS, to provide life-line to political survival of Anwar Ibrahim, with the support of DAP, who took advantage of Anwar’s predicaments. Anwar was the one proclaimed that UMNO have been discriminating the Chinese, and he was the one who promised the Chinese to abolish policies like NEP….all in order to get Chinese votes for himself, to salvage his political career.

 4. Anwar-Kit Siang HATE CAMPAIGN against UMNO managed to stir up Chinese voters. With the timely emergence of Hindraf, claiming that UMNO was involved in ethnic cleansing against the Indians, Pakatan made some gains in 2008 GE, giving further hopes to the Chinese…the time has come to push aside terms of SOCIAL CONTRACT.

5. Sensing that the Chinese are beginning to ‘naik kepala’ by beginning to questions TERMS OF THE SOCIAL CONTRACT, provisions and policies related to the SPECIAL POSITION OF MALAYS/BUMIPUTRAS, MALAY RIGHTS NGOs began to emerge, includingl. No doubt, their emergence increase the tension further.

However, lets not forget that, the present HIGHLY-RACIALLY-CHARGED Malaysia is the results of ‘pakatan’ Anwar-Kit Siang, hatched in the run-up to the 2008 GE, rather than being planned or started by the UMNO/BN Government or the Malay NGOs.

Underlying Trends As Extracted From Galas and Batu Sapi

November 5, 2010

Congratulation to BN for the DOUBLE VICTORY in Galas and Batu Sapi. For the first time, after several years, we can congratulate MCA for their HARD WORK in winning over the Chinese voters.

Lets not spend much time on Batu Sapi in sabah. Sabah is unquestionably a BN stronghold, congratulation to UMNO Sabah, and other BN component parties. The fact that PKR, which represented PKR-DAP-PAS yet to be officially registered coalition, won less than 30% of the votes is enough testimony of BN standing in Sabah.

Accross the South China Sea, Galas bye-election results have thrown some light s as to the underlying trend in the West Malaysia(formerly Persekutuan Tanah Melayu) political landscape.

As PAS admitted, there have been about 9% swing among Orang Asli votes, and 7% swing of Malay votes, towards the BN. And as analysed the MCA President, BN won by 200 votes majority among the Chinese voters.

The positive trend for BN is the indications that more and more Chinese voters are BACK TO THEIR SENSES, after being TEMPTED by Anwar and Lim Kit Siang to turn their back on the BN in the 2008 General Election. With the support of the Indians towards the BN RESTORED almost to the old-time level, the Chinese voters who are not yet back to their senses should seriously RE-CONSIDER THEIR POLITICAL GAMBLE.

With matters like Articles 153 of the Constitution considered RESOLVED after the recently-concluded UMNO General Assembly, UMNO and BN component parties should no longer be bogged down by the pre-independent SOCIAL CONTRACT.

Instead, all efforts must be focussed on the ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMMES which will increase the ECONOMIC CAKE of the country, to be enjoyed by all.

Malaysia has been a land of PEACE, STABILITY and PROSPERITY. Let not be FOOLED by desperado politicians, who survive on STIRRING UP crisis and chaos.

Nothing New About DAP-PKR Secret Pact

October 31, 2010

REVEALATIONS by YB Zulkifli Nordin in Parliment a few days ago,  about the SECRET PACT between DAP and PKR , including to grant AUTONOMY to Penang in the event of Pakatan winning the coming General Elections, have stunned the country, in particular the Malays.

However, by looking back into the pages of our recent history, there is actually NOTHING NEW about the ‘Chinese Agenda’ to wrest control of this LANDS OF THE MALAYS.

The  then IMMIGRANT CHINESE used to attempt to take over Tanah Melayu immediately after the Japanese surrender in 1945. At that time, their ‘political vehicle’ was the MALAYAN COMMUNIST PARTY(MCP), a branch of the COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA. Their plot was only foiled by the returning British. Otherwise, Tanah Melayu could have been turned into one of the provinces of CHINA.

When the Malays under the leadership of UMNO managed to force the British to rescind the MALAYAN UNION and replaced it with PERSEKUTUAN TANAH MELAYU in 1948, it was the then CHINESE IMMIGRANTS, under the MCP again who opposed the formation of the PERSEKUTUAN TANAH MELAYU(PTM), to the extend that they took up ARMED INSURRECTION against the PTM, which led to the declaration of EMERGENCY and the BANNING of the MCP.

The crushing defeat of MCP in the Malaysian jungle by 1960, and the lifting of the state of emergency, must have led to the ‘retreating and regrouping’ of the COMMUNIST ELEMENTS into legal political organisation, to continue with their ‘Chinese Agenda’.

When Singapore became part of MALAYSIA in 1963, the CHAUVANIST CHINESE ‘re-grouped’ themselves under the PAP SINGAPORE, under Lee Kwan Yew. The expulsion of Singapore in 1965 led to the formation of DAP as a new ‘political vehicle’ for the CHAUVANIST CHINESE.

Ever since its debut in 1969 General Election, DAP has been the BIGGEST THREAT to the peace and stability of this LANDS OF THE MALAYS. It was their VICTORY PARADES along main streets of KL immediately after the 1969 General Election, during which INSULTS AND PROVOCATIONS were thrown at Malays, which had sparked off the 13th May tragedy.

Its time that the Government seriously consider BANNING political parties who harbour objectives NOT IN LINE with the FOUNDATIONS of our country. DAP’s ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ is blatantly AGAINST our country’s Constitution, and should NO LONGER  be allowed to be propagated by a  ‘legal’ political party registered with the Registrar of  Societies. Unless and until DAP abandon such objectives, DAP will continue to FUEL racial disharmony, which may one day detonate the Lim Kit Siang-designed TIME BOMB.
